IUSD and Postdoctoral Fellow Position

The Salivary Diagnostics Laboratory at the Indiana University School of Dentistry (IUSD) has an immediate opening for a highly motivated individual to participate in biomarker discovery and identification in autoimmune diseases. A predominant goal of the research program is to identify biomarkers for early identification of Sjogren’s disease, a complex autoimmune disease with a multi-year clinicopathological course. In addition to working in our salivary analysis and diagnostics research laboratory, the selected candidate will work with a multidisciplinary team of investigators in health informatics, clinical and basic research, oral medicine and “omics” cores. The successful candidate is expected to have excellent communication/writing skills in English, and to be a team player who appreciates working closely and collaboratively with others in the group. The successful candidate is anticipated to collaborate in various translational research related projects and participate in writing grants and manuscripts.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Processing of saliva for proteomics and molecular analysis, initially with supervision and then progressively
towards independent work. These experiments will include but are not limited to:
- Saliva preparation for proteomics and genomics.
- Perform conventional proteomics, bioinformatic analysis and interpretation.
- RT-PCR, immunoblots, immunoprecipitation, kinase activity assays.
- Flow cytometry.
- Mammalian cell culture.
- Accurately document research findings for use in scientific publications and grant submission.
- Participate in writing scientific publications and grant submissions.
- Participate in research group meetings.
Experience:
Applicants should have a recent PhD degree in biochemistry/oral biology/ molecular biology, or a closely related field with a good track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.
