Job description

Postdoctoral Research Fellow - Geoff Parker's Project
Location:
Hanover, New Hampshire
Open Date:
Feb 19, 2024
Description:

The Irving Institute for Energy and Society at Dartmouth College is dedicated to driving progress towards an affordable, sustainable, and reliable energy future for the betterment of society. The Institute invites applications for a two-year Postdoctoral Research Fellowship that will focus on data sharing and trading among large organizations, with an emphasis on manufacturing and logistics. The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will collaborate with Professor Geoffrey Parker, Faculty Director for the Irving Institute. The research project is being launched in the context of growing interest in “Data Spaces.” The increased use of data is critical for organizations to develop the necessary models and control systems to meet their goals for emissions reductions as well as operational cost improvements.

Research will be conducted as marketplace design, platform governance design, testing of business models, as well as case studies of actual projects among participating organizations and firms. Output will include both theoretical development and practical application. Research may also inform industrial practice and government policy.

The project will involve the productive use of generative AI tools that require vast amounts of training data that is unlikely to reside within a single organization. The goal for this project is to work with organizations to deploy AI/ML tools using shared data for operational improvement as a mechanism to develop insights into which information governance regimes create the most value for participating organizations.
