Description:

SUMMARY

Responsible for assisting the Program Director/Manager with the daily operation of the program. Supports the Director/Manager as needed for the benefit of the program and provides direct participant service. The position will work within the Kinship Caregiver Program at Catholic Charities. Our program serves grandparents and other relatives raising their grandchildren or relative children through monthly support groups, family events, individual connections to resources in the community, as well as annual programs at the agency. Our program also provides community outreach and presentations to professionals who work with Kinship families.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Requires moderate to intermediate computer skills, basic accounting knowledge (budget tracking), excellent organization, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English and Spanish, including speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
  • Knowledge of the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and the appropriate techniques and practices for the participant population to include experience with family dynamics, seniors, and older adults.
  • Ability to interact effectively as a team member and independently with Agency staff and with a diverse participant base.
  • Ability to effectively lead and motivate staff through application of Agency values.
    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
    Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) from accredited four-year college or university; and two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. - Required
    Master’s degree in social work or assigned specialty area from accredited four-year college or university and one-year related experience or training - Preferred

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists with the recruiting, hiring, training, supervision, managing and evaluation of program employees/volunteers/interns.
  • Assists with the management of program Budget/Fundraising/Outreach/Marketing.
  • Plans curriculum and facilitates support/educational groups for participants.
  • Uses creativity and innovation in program development and service delivery.
  • Provides professional case management services (including crisis intervention) to program participants to improve stability, self-sufficiency and personal growth and development.
  • Connects participants to the agency Continuum of Care to access internal services.
  • Determines necessary level of intervention, utilizing a client centered focus informed by Trauma Informed Practices.
  • Develops, implements, and modifies service plans with participants as needed.
  • Maintains accurate and up to date documentation.
  • Manages program data, enters data timely and accurately for grant reporting and compliance.
  • Designs and distributes a monthly resource newsletter for clients and human services professionals.
  • Assists with the completion of program reports, case statements, reviews, etc.
  • Assists with special program projects, family events and community outreach/projects.
  • Develops and maintains professional collaborative working relationships with other service organizations/parishes/boards/committees for the benefit of the program.
  • Participates in a minimum of one community task force, committee, or board.
  • Participates in Catholic Charities monthly Volunteer Roundtable.
  • Ensures the program follows professional practice standards, including Trauma Informed Practices, diversity, equity and inclusion, agency leadership model and any other related standards (grants).
  • Demonstrates skills and sensitivity to the cultural/linguistic differences of staff, participants, and community.
  • Completes necessary administrative duties (paperwork, etc.) in a timely manner.
  • Maintains confidentiality of participant and agency information.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

May directly supervise volunteers and interns. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Agency’s values and policies, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training and managing volunteers and interns; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
