Position Summary
The Program in Physical Therapy at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis has an opening for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the Stroke Recovery, Rehabilitation, and Accelerometry research group led by Catherine Lang, PT, PhD. Our research is aimed at developing effective and efficient, individualized rehabilitation for people with neurological and neurodevelopmental conditions. A key tool for our lab is the use of wearable sensors (accelerometers) to quantifying human movement in daily life. This quantitative tool offers a convenient, accurate, and scalable way of measuring real-world movement outside the clinic or laboratory. Our interdisciplinary, interactive environment promotes collaborations within and outside the group with scientists and clinicians, resulting in a long-standing, productive research program. The successful applicant shares our passion for rigorous, clinically-relevant research, and will contribute to all aspects of the research process including brainstorming, project planning, subject recruitment, data collection and processing, database management, statistical analysis, and dissemination.

Base pay commensurate with experience based on the NIH-pay scale for post-docs.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Works collaboratively with the principal investigator and research team towards achieving career goals.
- Works with the principal investigator and research team members to successfully execute the aims of ongoing human research studies.
- Performs complex statistical analysis of data collected and writes interpretative reports. Verifies the correctness of the data submitted and makes recommendations based on these analyses.
- Conducts literature searches and formulates impactful scientific questions related to ongoing research projects.
- Disseminates research findings through presentations, abstracts, and manuscripts both within and outside the University.
- Develops own and assists with ongoing grant submissions and reporting.
- Complies with ethical standards and good laboratory practice including the maintenance of adequate research records.
- Provides guidance and mentorship to more junior lab members.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in biomedical engineering, rehabilitation science, or a closely related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in a movement science related field, with a strong background in quantitative analyses and/or motor behavior.
- Experience in multiple aspects of human subjects research.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and be committed to being a lifelong learner.
- Proficiency in programming of at least one language, with R preferred.
- Clinical training (e.g., PT, OT, MD) is highly valued, but not required.
