About The Position
The Geneva Foundation is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow who will work on-site at the Uniformed Services University (USU), Department of Radiology and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Department of Radiology. USU and WRNMMC are thriving clinical research environments with a long-standing history of collaboration with one another in conducting cutting-edge imaging studies and image guided therapeutic innovations with strong translational potential. USU and WRNMMC are co-located with one another in Bethesda, MD. We are currently recruiting for a Postdoctoral Fellow with a background in MRI and fMRI processing and method development. This position will implement research and clinical scanner protocols on an advanced neuroimaging system. The position will use research area standard and custom MR, fMRI, and other image processing and image analysis programs. The ideal candidate will possess a PhD from an accredited college or university in medical physics, neurosciences, biomedical engineering, or other related fields and with prior experience in MRI, fMRI, and DWI, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
This is an on-site position assigned to the Uniformed Services University (USU) and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. A thorough government background check will be required.
About The Project
The project will use fMRI to record the loci and temporal characteristics of BOLD brain activation in subjects performing with two cognitive instruments, each of which comprises a piloting task that was employed in a prior study and was selected for operational relevance and aviation face validity.
Salary Range
$62,000 - $85,000.
Salaries are determined based on several factors including external market data, internal equity, and the candidate’s related knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate and assist the Principle Investigator, Co-Investigators and research team in the performance the research study
- Contribute to the drafting and submitting of abstracts, manuscripts and reports for dissemination
- Prepare progress reports on research as required
- Analyze and write-up data
- Present complex information effectively to a range of audiences
- Provide data management assistance
- Provide project close-out support
- Maintain and promote Geneva’s core values of Integrity, Superior Service to Customers, Quality, Teamwork, Innovation, and Respect for All
- Possess a working knowledge of The Geneva Foundation’s Employee Handbook, User’s Guide and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as applicable
- Remain accessible and accountable at all times during work hours and collects messages at least twice daily.
- Return telephone messages within 24 hours of receipt; return email messages in a timely manner as appropriate
- Comply with the dress code of The Geneva Foundation and assigned duty station
- Promote positive, professional relationships with co-workers and The Geneva Foundation
- Maintain and update files of all applicable regulatory documentation for IACUC or IRB (including protocols, approvals, amendments, modifications, etc.) as well as any communications with the sponsor or any other Federal or regulatory office (including prior approvals, change in scope, etc.)
Qualifications
- PhD or MD required
- 1-2 years medical research project management experience strongly desired, preferably with Department of Defense
- Demonstrated knowledge and skill in magnetic resonance imaging required.
- Preferred experience in fMRI and / or DWI acquisition, processing and analysis.
- Complimentary magnetic resonance experience in research areas also considered.
- Knowledge of military system, preferred.
- Demonstrate competence in oral and written communication
- Must be organized, attentive to detail, and possess a positive friendly and professional demeanor.
- Ability to be flexible with changing priorities and available to interact with employees, clients and sponsors of all levels
- Ability to exercise independent judgment in fast-paced, high-pressured environment with strict deadlines and to manage multiple projects
- Computer skills including at least intermediate level experience with Excel and other Microsoft Office Software
