Job Description
Postdoctoral Research Fellow Position in Engineering (environmental engineering and applied microbiology)

Prof. Catherine Hoar’s research group in the Department of Engineering at Boston College is seeking a postdoctoral scholar to support interdisciplinary projects in the areas of wastewater surveillance, sustainable wastewater treatment, and the removal of emerging contaminants from wastewater. As part of these projects, the postdoctoral fellow will design and conduct experiments applying culture-based microbiological methods as well as techniques in molecular biology and analytical chemistry.
This is a 1-year appointment with the possibility for renewal. Preferred start date: July 2024. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Requirements
Applicants should have a PhD in environmental engineering, chemical engineering, environmental health microbiology, applied microbiology, or a related field. Applicants should also have experience with the above-mentioned laboratory techniques (including but not limited to, nucleic acid extraction and qPCR), excellent communication skills, and interest in mentoring undergraduate students. Expertise in genomics and bioinformatics is a plus. Depending on the interests of the successful candidate, the position may also include opportunities for teaching, community outreach, development of research projects, and collaboration with industry partners and/or researchers in public health.
