GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
The Healey & AMG Center for ALS at Mass General unites the world's leading experts to revolutionize how treatments are developed for people with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The Healey & AMG Center supports and accelerates groundbreaking, innovative global clinical trials for the 30,000 people in the U.S. and over 500,000 people worldwide who are affected by ALS. At the Healey & AMG Center we are working with collaborators around the globe to find novel therapies for people with ALS. Clinical research is the only way to develop new therapies for the treatment of ALS which is one of the strategic initiatives at the core of the Healey & AMG Center for ALS and the Neurological Clinical Research Institute (NCRI). NCRI is a premier Academic Clinical Research Organization (CRO) managing clinical trials in ALS and other neurological disorders. The NCRI employs over 180 faculty & staff including physician investigators, research nurses, clinical research coordinators, project managers, data managers, programmers, systems analysts, grants managers and administrative assistants dedicated to planning and implementing clinical trials.
The Post Doctoral Research Fellow will work closely with the NCRI Director and Co-Director to contribute to overall research objectives, develop new related areas of research, and form productive relationships with colleagues at the NCRI, Healey & AMG Center and across the globe.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Overall responsibilities include:
Academic writing and publication management (40%)
Administering research protocols (30%)
Contributing to the overall research effort in the NCRI (30%)
Relevant specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Literature review and report preparation
Recruit and schedule research participants
Data collection in adults with ALS
Contribute to dissemination of research findings (writing of manuscripts and presentations)
Create and manage research data
Contribute to the development of research aims and grant writing
Training and providing research support for NCRI personnel
Participate in NCRI meetings
Other related duties incidental to the work described above
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
Previous experience with research and scientific publications
Successful candidate must be self-motivated and self-directed, with a strong interest in contributing directly to clinical care of people who have ALS
EDUCATION:
Required: Doctoral Degree
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- This is a 40 hour per week position that may include evenings and weekends
- NCRI is located on the main campus at 165 Cambridge Street in Boston, MA and at Assembly Row in Somerville Charlestown Navy Yard, Boston, MA
