(Contingent upon available funding): Commensurate with education and experience Work Schedule: Variable Faculty Appt Period: Job Summary: Oklahoma State University (OSU) Stillwater campus invites applications for Postdoctoral Associate to conduct research in the area of computational biochemistry and molecular biophysics, with focus on machine learning methods. The successful candidate will work with and report to Dr. Pratul Agarwal, who is the Associate Vice President of Research (Cyber-Infrastructure) and Professor in the Department of Physiological Sciences.Agarwal lab conducts research using a combination of computational and experimental techniques (https://experts.okstate.edu/pratul.agarwal/). Dr. Agarwal has been funded by NIH, DOE, NSF and private companies. Dr. Agarwal is also the Director of High-Performance Computing Center. This Center houses two supercomputers (Pete and GPU-powered Bullet) to support fundamental research. Dr. Agarwal has also been funded by NSF to build a regional supercomputer for Oklahoma, Arkansas and Kansas (OAK) region. In Agarwal lab, the combination of machine learning and supercomputing power is being used to address challenging problems in molecular biophysics by investigating various aspects of biomolecules, including their structure, folding, dynamics and functions. The lab is currently using biomolecular simulations to study a variety of enzyme molecules to understand the various factors that lead to enzyme rate-enhancement. A post-doctoral position is immediately available, to work on challenging problems in molecular biochemistry and biophysics. The selected candidate will also work on using machine learning methods in the area of biomolecular sciences.Responsibilities: The post-doctoral research associate will work with molecular biophysicists and computational biologists on biomolecular simulations of enzyme catalysis and focus on understanding the role of various factors, including intrinsic protein dynamics, in enzyme function. Develop and apply machine learning methods. Requirements and Desired skills: A Ph.D. in computational biology/chemistry or related fields. Experience with classical MD/QM-MM codes for generation of free energy profiles is required. Prior experience in Machine Learning methods is a strong plus. Parallel programming experience in Fortran/C/C++ and familiarity with biomolecular simulations code is also desired.
