Position oversees, inspects, and monitors contractual field work, which includes excavations, boring, placement of hand-holes, aerial strand and fiber cable installation, grounding, and monitoring restoration (sod, etc.) of work areas per client's standards.
We will be looking for 2 of these positions. One north (Green Bay) and one south (Madison or Columbus).
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Report back to GIS specialist with field updates. Communicate with OSP Engineer concerns with final design builds.
Duties / Responsibilities:
· Schedules work and inspection phases with Market Vendor contractor(s), superintendent, and agency personnel.
· Advises contractors of violations and recommends adjustments to work operations
· Maintains project notes, which include daily diaries, etc.
· Validates as-built and project closeout documentation to confirm any red-line changes have been incorporated into the final design and that all project completion requirements are met.
· Validates, in conjunction with local engineering, that invoiced unit quantities align with construction activities in the field
· Required to submit daily updates to include, but not limited to, summary of work performed, next-day work locations, customer contact/complaint calls, timesheet reporting, as directed by the Client representative.
· Required to attend periodic meetings, as directed by the Client's representative.
· Required to investigate and provide damage reports any time a damage is incurred on Client's facilities or the facilities of another industry provider.
· Responsible for ensuring that all locate wires and ground wires are terminated, as required, at the start of all work functions and must confirm that all locate wires and ground wires are terminated at the conclusion of all work functions.
· Must ensure that all pedestals covers, closures and hand holes are securely sealed or closed with the appropriate hardware & report all noncompliance or sub-standard conditions to a Client representative.
· Proper labeling of handholes and pedestals as route is inspected

Required Skills/Abilities:
- Working knowledge of 3GIS, Google Earth or other industry standard geospatial applications.
- Knowledge of Arc Field Maps a plus
- Outside plant (OSP) engineering and fiber optic network construction experience, including knowledge of line, splicing, substructure
- Experience with live auditing of all Outside Plant (OSP) facilities in a construction environment
- Knowledge of electronic and electrical safety standards and National Electric Code
- Must have and maintain a valid state driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
Education and Experience:
· A Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management is desired. An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
- 1-3 years of telecommunications industry experience in the construction field with a specific focus on fiber optic network deployment (i.e., fiber technician, inspector, etc.)
Physical Requirements:
The incumbent will be required to sit; use hand and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear regularly while performing the duties of this job. The incumbent will be required to walk daily on construction sites in rough terrain and climb ladders and facilities under construction. The incumbent will be required to stand for long periods of time on occasion. The incumbent may be required to lift and/or move up to 75 lbs. with assistance.
