Job Position Title: Electro-Mechanical Technician Intern
Function: Operations
Location: Columbus West
Job Group/Grade: JG2
Position Summary:
Assigned a mentor who will direct their summer, co-op or school year work experience. Work or project assignments will be aligned with the student's academic background to take advantage of their technical expertise and provide real life application of their classroom knowledge to further expand their skill set. Using hand tools and test equipment, the individual will perform maintenance on both electronic and mechanical equipment, such as industrial controls, computers, servo-mechanisms, following blueprints, and setting up equipment to manufacturer's specifications. At the same time, opportunities will be provided for students to expand their knowledge outside the boundaries of their classroom experiences. Typical roles our Mechatronics Interns could consist of are building and programming control systems, troubleshooting production equipment control issues, and implementing improvements. Ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures, and best practices, and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures. Regular, punctual attendance is an essential job function. Ability to read and write and converse in English. Willing and able to uphold BD Values.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Perform troubleshooting, diagnose causes and repair equipment.
- Motivated to learn about high-speed automated manufacturing equipment.
- PLC, Servo, and Vision Programming (Allen Bradley Brand experience preferred).
- Fabrication, automation, & industrial experience preferred.
- Install, modify, and understand control panel wiring. Work closely with department EMT's to understand and modify PLC programs and maintain PLC ladder logic programs.
- Train operators and assist with machine set-ups/operation as required.
- Work with department technicians and engineers to implement improvements.
- Must be able to work after school hours (4-10) or schedule agreed upon with department tech leaders.
Education and Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Possess or currently pursuing a degree in a Mechatronics field (or equivalent)
- Completed Freshman year in a mechatronics program (or equivalent) required.
- 18 years of age or older
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
Experience:
- None
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Thorough understanding of hydraulic, electric, mechanical and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to read blueprints and wiring schematics.
- Ability to understand PLC ladder logic and basic PLC functions.
- Ability to use a voltmeter.
