Porter/Dishwasher

JOB OVERVIEW:

As a kitchen Porter, you are an integral part of the kitchen team's overall success. The overall success of the kitchen operation starts and ends with you. In this role, you are responsible for upholding a pristine dining environment and maintaining a safe and sanitary workplace. This role is fast-paced and demanding, but you stay ahead by being efficient and working with a sense of urgency.

REPORTS TO:Executive Chef/Chef de Cuisine

Qualifications:

Essential:

• Minimum of 18 years of age.
• Ability to read, write, and understand the English language.
• Positive interpersonal skills required.
• Must be able to work in hot, wet, humid and loud environment for long period of time.
• Ability to stand and work continuously in confined spaces.
• Must be able to safely lift bags, cases and heavy items up to 50 lbs at a time.
• Knowledge of workplace safety procedures.
• Must be able to read labels on chemicals.
• Ability to read, write, and understand the English language.
• Valid Food Handlers Certification or completion within 30 days of hire.

Desirable:

• Previous experience preferred.
• Some culinary training.
• Fluency in a foreign language, preferably Spanish.

Physical Requirements:

This position is active and requires:

• Regular talking and hearing.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, occasional kneeling, stooping, and crouching.
• Frequent lifting of products weighing up to 50 pounds.

Essential Job Functions:

• Sorts and rinses dirty dishes, glass, tableware and other cooking utensils and place them in racks to send through dish machine.
• Keeps dishwasher clean and reports any functional or mechanical problems immediately.
• Monitors water temperature to ensure sanitary wash cycle.
• Washes pots, pans, smallware, and trays by hand.
• Sets up or breaks down dishwashing area.
• Washes and stores all tableware and kitchenware.
• Keeps dish room clean and organized.
• Maintains adequate levels of clean tableware for dining room and kitchen.
• Wipes up any spills to ensure kitchen floors remain dry at all times.
• Bags and hauls trash to dumpster at designed times.
• Handles tableware carefully to prevent breakage and loss.
• Maintains adequate levels of dish detergents and cleaning supplies.
• Cleans food production areas as required.
• Maintains cleanliness of all food service areas and equipment.
• Preps assigned items and recipes.
• Sorts and stores food deliveries into their respective coolers and areas.
• Other general cleaning duties as directed.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
