Typical Duties & Responsibilities
Essential Responsibilities
The essential duties of the position are listed below but may not encompass all related and/or required responsibilities.
- Direct all operations of pool facilities.
- Ensures a safe and positive experience by enforcing all aquatic rules and regulations to staff and public.
- Works under the supervision of the Records Clerk II
- Render essential water rescue and safety procedures to include, but not limited to performing lifeguard skills, first aid, CPR, and other care when needed or until arrival of emergency medical services; as necessary.
- Responsible for the opening and closing of pool facility
- Perform general ongoing maintenance of the facility to ensure premises are safe and clean.
- Develops, implements, promotes, and oversees a variety of aquatics programs for staff, and/or members of the public.
- Provide leadership and supervision over all pool staff which includes provide ongoing training, lifesaving programs and disciplinary action as needed.
- Participate in ongoing training and lifesaving programs
- Create and manage weekly schedules for aquatic staff and approves time and attendance in a timely manner.
- Routinely inspect and inventory all pool equipment on a regular basis to ensure safety and operability.
- Reports and makes suggestions of any potential hazards as well as request service calls, as necessary.
- Prepare and maintain all required daily reports and records.
- Other duties as deemed necessary or required.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- 18 years or older
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Maintains a positive, patient attitude when dealing with the public
- The successful candidate must be able to work variable hours, including morning, late evenings, holidays, and weekends
- Must possess current certifications upon hire (Lifeguard training, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and First Aid for Public Safety Title 22 (recommended))
- City of Winters will cover training costs
- Training is MANDATORY (Dates TBD)
- 3-4 years of college preferred and 3 years as a lifeguard/instructor, including working in swimming pool management.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
This role is designated as a Mandatory Reporter; completion of mandatory reporting training required within the first two weeks of employment.
Successful candidates will be required to have fingerprint clearance and pass a TB skin test prior to placement at worksite. EOE/ADA
