Under the general direction of the Policy and Training Branch Chief (Staff Services Manager II), the Staff Services Manager I (SSM I) (Supervisory) serves as the Policy and Support Services Supervisor in the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR). The SSM I (Sup) leads a dedicated team responsible for developing, reviewing, updating, and administering policies and administrative procedures with department-wide impacts. The SSM I (Sup) also oversees other support activities, such as conflict of interest and telework.

Department Information
The Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) was established in 1927. Its mission is to improve working conditions for California's wage earners and to advance opportunities for profitable employment in California. DIR administers and enforces laws governing wages, workplace safety and health, apprenticeship training programs, and medical care and other benefits for injured workers.
