Summary:
The PMEL Technician Trainee will receive on the job training and mentorship to become a fully qualified Technician. The length of time to become a fully qualified Technician is contingent upon the candidate’s education, skill level, and aptitude, and generally will not exceed 24 months. As applicable or as needed, the PMEL Technician Trainee will receive on the job training in measurement disciplines such as voltage, frequency, current, resistance, capacitance, inductance, power, attenuation, sound, light, fiber optics, noise, pressure, force, linear, mass, flow, torque, and optics.
Essential Job Functions:
- Receive training on metrology principles and techniques, calibration laboratory practices and compliance with applicable directives.
- Receive training on the repair, overhaul, align, calibrate, and certification of laboratory working standards and customer TMDE using safe work practices/procedures.
- As applicable, learn how to calibrate/repair customer and lab-owned high accuracy and general TMDE in disciplines such as frequency, current, resistance, capacitance, inductance, power, attenuation, sound, light, fiber optics and noise.
- As applicable, learn how to calibrate/repair customer and lab-owned high accuracy and general TMDE in disciplines such as pressure, force, linear, mass, flow, torque, and optics.
- Learn how to utilize TMDE to troubleshoot and repair systems and circuit boards to component level as needed.
- Learn the ability to read, interpret, and analyze block, schematic, wiring diagrams, and technical publications.
- Learn how to exercise independent judgment in tasks such as circuit analysis, waveform analysis, and signal flow.
- Willingness to commit and dedicate time for self-study on any of the above tasks/skills as necessary.
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
- Ability to learn quickly and possess a strong aptitude in attention to detail.
- Ability to understand and follow sophisticated processes and directives.
- Ability to continuously develop outstanding analytical and mathematical skills.
- Proficient computer software skills including Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- All employees shall be able to read, write speak and understand English.
- Maybe required to obtain and maintain a favorable security clearance.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Prior training in a technical field from a vocational trade school or college.
- Must be a US citizen.
- Must pass a drug test.
- Must have a valid and current driver’s license.
- Must have the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Must have normal color vision.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior technical training in a field such as Biomedical, Aviation Electronics, or similar.
