Job Responsibilities
Trident Technical College, located in Charleston, SC, is a public, two-year multi-campus institution is seeking a qualified Plumber. This position is under the general supervision of and reports to the Building/Grounds Manager. This position will perform duties in accordance with applicable codes, laws, accepted trade practices, and safety procedures.
These duties include but are not limited to:
Performing expert-level plumbing design or minor construction projects, installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of plumbing systems and equipment. Performing skilled duties in general building maintenance, renovation, repair, and construction on a routine and emergency basis for main and off-site campuses. Plumbing, electrical, carpentry, masonry, painting, and general maintenance activities. Maintaining records, preparing reports, and ordering supplies or equipment. Estimating time, material, or labor costs for use in project planning.Assisting before, during, and after severe weather and other emergencies, which may include after-hours and weekends.Minimum and Additional Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma and experience in installing, maintaining, or repairing air, water, gas, or waste disposal systems. Valid SC Driver's License. Additional Requirements:
Preferred candidates will have a related associate degree or journeyman plumber certification, apprenticeship, or military schooling, including five (5) years of related experience.One (1) year of supervisory experience. Applicants are asked to attach transcripts and/or certifications with the application. Veteran applicants, please submit a copy of the DD 214, including completion of related schooling. Candidates with SC plumber license is highly desirable.Preferred Qualifications
Ideal candidates will have working knowledge and abilities in:
Methods of installation and repair of plumbing systems. Safety precautions of the plumbing trade. Skill in the use and care of tools, materials, and equipment commonly used in the performance of plumbing repair and installation. Ability to assume responsibility of lead worker in performing plumbing repair and installation. Communicate with internal and external customers. Perform heavy manual labor.Possess a high degree of technical expertise, safety, and conscious work habits to fulfill the plumbing project and maintenance needs effectively and efficiently without endangering or inconveniencing the college community. Expert knowledge of relevant safety practices and tools, equipment, materials, and supplies used in the maintenance. Exceptional customer service is a must. Additional Comments
