Job Description
The Plumber maintains, repairs, and ensures the proper and efficient operation of the facilities central plant and other mechanical and plumbing systems including, domestic hot water heaters, air-handlers, complete drain and domestic water system, hydronic piping, and computerized building management system. The technician will also help maintain any other structural, cosmetic, and miscellaneous maintenance needs of the facility as necessary.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Install, test, maintain and repair as necessary and directed - all central plant equipment, including: kitchen steamers, large and small kitchen equipment, commercial and residential toilets, sinks, and associated plumbing systems, 40 to 100 HP pumps, power burner domestic hot water heaters, cooling towers, and all associated motors, controls, and wiring.
- Install, test, maintain, and repair as necessary and directed - facility hydronics system, including: coils flow control devices, pumps, and valves.
- Install, test, maintain, repair and calibrate as necessary and directed – facility computerized building management system, including: central controller, distributed control devices, sensors, and actuators.
- Maintains spare parts inventory, in the plumbing store room, recommends to maintenance supervisor needed parts and par levels, maintains special tools and equipment needed for performance of duties.
- Performs weekly testing of emergency generator and maintain necessary records.
- Makes daily rounds of the facility, addressing any malfunctions for prompt repair.
- Drives company vehicle as necessary to pick-up parts and supplies.
- Performs other duties as necessary and directed.
EDUCATION/SKILLS AND LICENSRE REQUIREMENTS
- Three to five years experience in plant operations and maintenance and the repair of large central plant Plumbing equipment.
- Personal computer experience in a Windows environment.
- Good driving record.
- Rotates on-call after-hours, weekend and holidays.
- High School Education
- Vo-tech training; or specialized training courses in plumbing, mechanical, and associated fields; or possession of a journeyman plumbers’ card.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Frequent lifting (up to 75lbs) bending, stooping, walking, climb ladders and scaffolding, and standing during work shift.
- Must be able to work inside and outside to effectively make rounds daily throughout the facility and to respond to problems and emergencies.
