ERT is seeking a Pleasure Yachting Community Liaison to support NOAA Fisheries Southeast Regional Office (SERO) with engagement/outreach planning that emphasizes reducing impacts of vessel strikes on endangered whales (e.g., North Atlantic right whales) in the Southeast. Duties include the following:
- Develop and facilitate relationships with the Pleasure Yachting community to leverage engagement and outreach opportunities.
- Actively participate in dock/site visits, trade shows, meetings, workshops, conferences, or any other event that reaches the Pleasure Yachting community.
- Assist NOAA with the development of key messaging that can best reach the Pleasure Yachting community.
- Assist with the implementation of stakeholder engagement strategies and outreach plans based on input from NOAA, partners, and other stakeholders.
- Identify, develop, and foster potential partnerships that can leverage broader outreach opportunities (e.g., State of Florida, Yachting Associations, Marinas, etc.).
- Assist with reporting metrics that can help measure the effectiveness of engagement/outreach efforts on a recurring, monthly basis.
Required Skills
- 6 years of experience working on, riding on, or captaining vessels in the Pleasure Yachting community that are between 35ft and 65ft.
- Extensive knowledge, experience, and understanding of where to find, and how to communicate with, the different Pleasure Yachting communities in the Southeast United States that specifically operate vessels between 35ft and 65ft in size.
- Familiarity with large endangered whales and laws governing them such as the Endangered Species Act and the Marine Mammal Protection Act.
- Excellent communication, organizational skills, and initiative.
- Excellent writing and public speaking skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Willingness to travel at least once per month where the duration of travel may range from one (1) to five (5) days)
Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident and be able to pass a background investigation to obtain a security badge to enter the applicable government facility.
Education
HS Diploma, or equivalent.

Location
This position is fully remote; however local travel in the Southeast region of the US is required. Candidates should reside in the Southeast region or be willing to relocate. Intermittent attendance in the local office will also be required.
