Location: Sacaramento, CA
Job Summary:
Under little to no supervision, the PLC Applications Engineer must be capable of writing PLC programs OIT programs, and software control descriptions for controlling various water and/or wastewater processes. Responsible for the analysis, design, programming, debugging and modification of programmable logic for such applications. Verify that all aspects of PLC & OIT functionality meet required project specifications and perform bench testing, shop testing, and troubleshooting during startup and post-commissioning. Ability and willingness to train and aid other programmers, along with assisting in the development of departmental best practices and standards.
Essential Functions:
- Write PLC operating program based upon control specification and/or Tesco standards to assure safe, reliable and optimal equipment operation
- Write (publish) concise operating instructions detailing; control parameters and their effects under normal and failure conditions
- Provide technical assistance (phone or job-site) to verify and/or modify PLC program
- Work with various departments internally, along with consulting engineers, customers and end-users to assure proper system layouts and designs
- Analyze and interpret existing programs and documentation to identify systems' requirements and project modifications
- Ensure assignments and work schedules follow policy and procedures
- Assist in the standardization of department programming practices and procedures
- Evaluate current procedures and recommend changes to improve the efficiency of planning, documentation and execution of development activity
- Function as technical leadership of projects and support larger scale projects
- Communicate effectively to a wide range of internal and external contacts
- Assist in training other employees on any aspect above
- Provide weekly content and job status reports used with scheduling tools.

Education and Knowledge:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering/Technology or related field and necessary experience
- Applied knowledge in programming major manufacturers (Allen-Bradley, Schneider Electric, Siemens, Tesco, etc.) PLCs & OITs
- Excellent understanding of computer operations, Microsoft Office
- Excellent knowledge of instruments and electro-mechanical devices used for process control
- Understanding of Tesco best practices
Experience:
At least 5+ years of related experience
Training Requirements:
- Tesco Controls, Inc. general office safety training
- Tesco will provide OSHA 10 job site safety training
Safety Requirements:
- Required to follow all Safety Policies and Guidelines
- Report any potential hazards to supervisor, Safety & Facilities Supervisor, or HR.
- Required to wear appropriate PPE and/or eye protection when designated.
