Job Purpose:

The Manufacuring Operator- Plater is a member of the Plating Department reporting directly to the Production Supervisor for our 2nd shift (Mon- Fri 3:30PM- 12:00AM).

 

Essential Functions:

  • Various tasks assigned by supervisor.
  • Clips and racks parts for plating operations.
  • Chemically cleans metal for preparation of plating.
  • Runs parts through furnace per methods for cleaning and sinter process.
  • Racks and barrel plate parts per methods.
  • Dries parts in hot box or alternative drying methods (such as methanol dip).
  • Un-rack parts and visually inspects parts for plating defects.
  • Use XRF machine to measure plating thickness then file paperwork.
  • Dummy tanks when needed.
  • Must be able to close plating room at end of shift.
  • Perform operations in established sequence to process components through electroless of electroplating and drying processes to impart a protective coating of the desired type. e.g. copper, nickel, gold, silver, etc. to required thickness.
  • Maintain solutions within proper operating parameters.
  • Regulates current input and plating time to obtain desired thickness of plate per instructions/methods.
  • Remove parts from hooks, racks, baskets and inspect for plating deficiencies.
  • Maintain racks, clips, balls, tanks and other related plating equipment as required.
  • Assist with the training/cross-training of all department employees.
  • Master all phases of barrel and rack plating.
  • Conduct all tasks in a safe and efficient manner complying with all local, state, and federal EHS regulations and with Morgan New Bedford, MA EHS Guidelines. Guidelines include but not limited to participation in required EHS training and use of proper PPE. Employees are responsible for reporting hazardous conditions and job-related injuries or illnesses to their supervisor.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
