The Role: The Planning and Forecasting Director is a critical role in ensuring Puffco's operational and financial success. The leader in this role will find pride in driving the direction of the business and will have company level impact. This person will help develop a Sales & Operational Planning process, build the forecast, and will start the planning team. This results-oriented person will take ownership of demand planning, supply planning, forecast accuracy, work with operations to minimize inventory, and play a critical role helping Puffco continue to evolve and expand.

The Director will be a central figure to the business. He or She will drive operational excellence and consistency through the implementation of standard business planning processes and tools. This person will be hands-on, able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and drive initiatives that improve sales, inventory turns, customer experience, and financial margin. The role is hybrid and will consists of 2 days in the office, located in Downtown Los Angeles and 3 days remote.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and own the Sales and Operations Planning process across Puffco standardizing processes and procedures across all selling channels as well as customer service.
  • Lead the S&OP management reviews, prepare all data and metrics for review, identify gaps and scenarios that must be presented, guide final decision making on open items and trade-offs.
  • Lead meetings to forecast demand, product launches, inventory levels, sell-through, identify risks, recommend actions, and generate plans to meet Puffco's financial objectives; review forecasts with key stakeholders (Sales, Finance, Operations, Product Management, etc) providing overview of approach and integrating feedback as needed.
  • Identify areas to improve forecast accuracy, inventory levels, inventory turns, and work with partners to take appropriate actions.
  • Work cross-functionally with Sales, Product Marketing Management, and Operations teams to set launch quantities of new product introductions and to ensure smooth product transitions.
  • Identify improvement opportunities in the product planning process, potential systems and tools improvements, and drive projects to completion.
  • Hybrid work environment, with 2-3 days at HQ in downtown Los Angeles


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field, MBA desired. Relevant work experience considered in lieu of education
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in a planning/forecasting role; previous startup experience a plus
  • 3+ years of experience managing teams
  • Highly developed financial, analytical, and organizational skills in a fast-moving environment
  • Strong understanding of demand forecasting methodologies, forecasting process, and able to scale forecasting systems and tools.
  • Prior experience in demand and supply forecasting, inventory modeling, and financial impact in a product/distribution environment; experience in a consumer electronics or retail company is a plus.
  • Expert proficiency in Excel; experience in modeling with large, disparate datasets and visualization techniques
  • Ability to think strategically and execute tactically, persistent attention to detail, and a high level of comfort in working with numbers.
  • Ability to influence without direct authority and apply an appropriate level of assertiveness
  • Able to work as a high-level individual contributor and to grow a planning organization
  • Effective change management leader
