Job Description
The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) manages the efficient flow of electricity on more than 11,000 circuit-miles of high-voltage transmission lines, dispatching power from hundreds of generating units across the state.
The rate of changes to the NY electric system has doubled in recent years and is only expected to grow to meet NY state's ambitious climate mandates. This position will coordinate with the System Modeling team and internal and external stakeholders to help develop and support the databases necessary to maintain reliability.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Administer databank folder for sharing Critical Energy Infrastructure Information (CEII) with external customers via shared folders housed on Box.com.
- Coordinate and process the requests from NY Transmission Owners on Siemens Model on Demand (MOD) account, Box account, access related to annual databank.
- Process CEII data requests for System Modeling databases.
- Coordinate with Stakeholder Services and System Modeling team for processing the CEII data request.
- Support in the administration of software licenses for various software managed by System Modeling for transmission planning software such as Siemens PSSE, Powergem TARA, ASPEN, etc.
- Coordinate and facilitate to address questions sent to System Modeling team from various groups.
- Support the development of NY state Map in ArcGIS Map
- Support in addressing various project related status and modeling related questions sent to System Modeling team from various groups in NYISO.
- Participate in preparing and maintaining NYISO technical support documentation.
- Provide assistance by responding to customer, regulatory, or other outside inquiries as appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
- Bachelor's Degree in (BA) Business, (BS) Engineering or related field required
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification defined by the Project Management Institute (PMI) is desirable
- Two years of experience in data administration, proejct management, or related field
- Basic understanding of electric power systems desired; or ability to gain that understanding through on-the-job training
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to read, analyze and assist with interpretations of common scientific and technical manuals. Ability to assist with responding to common inquiries or complaints from market participants, regulatory agencies or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to management and other NYISO groups.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Intermediate competency in Windows operating environment using MS Office applications, e-mail and internet programs. Prior knowledge of engineering software tools is a plus, but not required, including Siemens PTI PSS MOD and PSSE.
- Ability to assist with solving practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral, diagram or schedule form.
- Excellent teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills required.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to perform routine office tasks. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. WORK ENVIRONMENT
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Contact with staff and public will occur. Travel may be required to attend and/or conduct meetings, conferences and training. This position may require work on nights, weekends or holidays.
