The Laboratory Section Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations of their assigned laboratory department. This includes departmental scheduling, performing annual job evaluations, employee counseling, maintenance of departmental policies and procedures, maintenance of departmental supply inventories, etc. The Laboratory Section Supervisor is responsible for maintaining all regulatory and accreditation standards as required by CAP and DNV. The Laboratory Section Supervisor performs laboratory testing in their section and other areas (based on competency) and provides and/or oversees the training and competency of all new and current employees in their laboratory section.
Required Education:
AS or BS degree in a related field. Must possess the educational credentials necessary to satisfy CLIA'88 personnel regulations for a high complexity laboratory and general supervisor.
Preferred Education:
Completion of a NAACLS-accredited program or Board of Registry equivalent.
Required Technical Skills:
Experience with procedures and instrumentation in the area of their supervision.
Required Licensure /Registration /Certification:
National certification/registration as MLS/CLS/MT or MLT via ASCP, AMT, NCA or HEW. Will consider board eligible technologist who has completed a NAACLS-approved program or Board of Registry equivalent with appropriate experience.
Preferred Licensure /Registration /Certification:
Specialty certification appropriate for department supervised such as SBB, SH, etc.
Required Experience:
Five years of clinical experience with at least one year of experience in the section to be supervised.
Preferred Experience:
One or more years of previous supervisory experience
