Adecco Search has partnered with one of their favorite clients in hiring a Planer Mill Superintendent.
Position Overview:
The Planer Mill Superintendent will play a crucial role in our lumber mill operations, providing leadership, training, and development to supervisors and hourly personnel. This individual will manage processes, resources, and the workforce to meet or exceed established budgets and performance objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety Leadership:
Maintain the highest standards for safety performance, leading by personal example.
Communicate and uphold a well-defined safety vision for the Planer Mill operations.
Quality and Production Standards:
Establish and maintain quality and production standards for the Planer Mill and kilns.
Conduct routine quality checks and emphasize the importance of manufacturing quality products.
Employee Involvement and Work Systems:
Embrace the principles of employee involvement and work systems.
Motivate both direct and non-direct reports, seek and listen to their input, and facilitate effective communication across the organization.
Budget and Performance Management:
Ensure established departmental budgets and performance objectives are met or exceeded.
Communicate goals and progress regularly, provide necessary training, direct resources, organize processes, and facilitate problem-solving.
Inventory and Asset Management:
Maintain product specifications, oversee perpetual inventory systems.
Institute a cycle count program and manage year-end Physical Inventory (PI).
Work closely with the maintenance team to ensure continuous improvement in asset management.
Collaboration and Continuous Improvement:
Collaborate with the maintenance team to maintain a continuous improvement culture.
Work closely with the shipping and sales team for on-time shipments.
Job Qualifications:
Three to five years of related supervisory experience, preferably in a forest industry manufacturing environment.
Post-secondary education in wood processing, business, engineering, or a related field is an asset.
Self-motivated individual with well-developed organizational, time management, and analytical skills.
Technical knowledge of planer equipment, lumber grading, and high-speed planer operations.
Kiln experience and knowledge is an asset.
Demonstrated ability to work and contribute in a team environment.
Excellent computer application skills.

Pay Details: $100,000.00 to $110,000.00 per year
