POSITION SUMMARY
The Pipe Assembly Fitter is responsible for cutting and fitting pipe or structural materials for welders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Align parts using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars and hammers
· Mark reference points onto floor or face block and transpose them to workpiece
· Give directions to welder to build up low spots or short pieces with weld
· Straighten warped or bent parts using sledge, hand torch, straightening press or bulldozer
· Remove high spots and cut bevels using hand files, portable grinders and cutting torch
· Examine blueprints and plan sequence of operation, applying knowledge of geometry, effects of heat, weld shrinkage, machining and metal thickness
· Tack weld fitted parts together
· Position or tighten braces, jacks, clamps, ropes, bolt straps or bolt parts in position for welding
· Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings and related equipment according to specifications by welding, brazing, cementing, soldering and threading joints
· Put all information on the pipe before cutting and transfer all item numbers onto cut sheet and carry over item numbers to drop pipe
· Ensure all numbers are clear and point to the right material when fabricating spool sheets
· Check measurements to assure they match with drawing and obtain approval from quality control department
· Inspect, examine and test installed systems and pipe lines using pressure gauges, hydrostatic testing, observation or other methods
· Plan pipe system layout, installation or repair according to specifications
· Read and understand blue prints and ISO’s
· Obey and follow all safety rules and policies
· Wear all appropriate safety equipment (PPE)
· Perform all other duties as assigned by manager and/or supervisor
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
· 5+ years of fitting experience in an industrial setting
· Basic written and verbal skills
· Must have the ability to perform work accurately
· Must be reliable and have good time management skills
· For new hires, must pass a pre-employment drug screen
· For new hires, must successfully complete all required training.
