Position Description
ENTRY SALARY: $65,189.58
Under administrative direction, the Pier Operations Manager supervises, manages, coordinates, and ensures proper maintenance, and operation of Pier 60.
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions: -- Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Oversees, supervises, manages, and monitors the operations of Pier 60; provides expertise, direction, and management of staff, operations, customer service, and general program development, planning, and promoting.
- Maintains safe and effective operations at the pier according to OSHA and department health standards and practices.
- Maintains compliance and educates citizens on local and state laws and guidelines related to recreational fishing.
- Provides routine preventive and corrective action maintenance and repairs.
- Supervises and coordinates a large and varied group of employees and work teams toward the accomplishment of objectives by providing information and resources, coordinating interaction, developing strategies, and providing coaching, direction, and leadership.
- Interviews, hires, trains, and supervises full, part-time, and variable employees working within Pier 60; evaluates performance, provides feedback and guidance, recommends promotions or disciplinary actions, and facilitates teamwork and personal growth within the staff.
- Oversees the cash handling from general admissions; selects and monitors service providers, and other contracts.
- Requisitions, inventories, organizes, tracks, and controls supplies; monitors budget and expenditures, submits budgeting reports, and makes recommendations on budgetary spending.
- Serves as subject matter expert for fishing and fishing programs.
- Stimulates interest, promotes, and markets programs and services through contact with interested groups, the general public, media, and sponsors; prepares and distributes media information, publications, and literature.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Licenses, Certifications, and Equipment:
A valid State driver's license is required.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Business Management, Public Administration, or a related field PLUS three (3) years parks and recreation or pier experience and one (1) supervisory and customer service experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
