Our high volume medical services group is seeking a skilled and reliable Physician Assistant to provide support to our healthcare team. In this position, you will work closely with our team of physicians to provide comprehensive patient care and assist in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of neurology and Orthopedic conditions. This role requires a high level of clinical expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. We are currently seeking an experienced candidate in Neurosurgery and/or Orthopedics, specifically extremities. We are looking for someone to work between our Winter Park and Summerfield location (three days in Winter Park and two days in Summerfield).
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including medical history, physical examinations, and neurological and Orthopedic evaluations.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as X-rays, MRIs, CT scans, and laboratory tests, to aid in the diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Collaborate with physicians to develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients, including prescribing medications, recommending therapies, and coordinating referrals to specialists.
- Perform procedures, such as joint injections, casting, splinting, and wound care, under the guidance and supervision of the attending physician.
- Provide patient education on treatment plans, medication usage, and lifestyle modifications to promote optimal health and recovery.
- Document patient encounters, treatment plans, and progress notes accurately and timely in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members, including nurses, physical therapists, and occupational therapists, to ensure comprehensive and coordinated patient care.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in neurology and Orthopedics by attending conferences, seminars, and continuing education programs.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Ability to communicate professionally with key partners including Attorneys, Medical Facilities, Providers, and Doctors
- Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively while multitasking
- Experience with eClinicalWorks is a bonus
- Excellent phone etiquette in a high volume practice
- Proficient in conducting comprehensive patient assessments and formulating treatment plans.
- Strong knowledge of neurology and Orthopedic conditions, diagnostics, and treatment modalities is preferred but not required. Training is available.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, physicians, and healthcare team members.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and proficiency in documentation.
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year experience in Orthopedics or Neurosurgery , 2 years preferred.
- Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Current Physician Assistant licensure in the state of Florida.
- Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Proficient in computer programs, including Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Google Suites
- Knowledge of Kofax PDF software a plus
