Position Summary
With a customer service orientation, Physical Therapy Aide is a member of the Physical Therapy support team, working under the supervision of physical and occupational therapists, helping patients regain movement and manage pain after injuries and illnesses.
Key Responsibilities & Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Assists with patient intake
- Prepares and sets up items and modalities for patient treatment including equipment, hot and cold packs, etc.
- Transports patients within facility for treatment(s)
- Observes patients before, during and after therapy, noting the patients’ status and reporting to a physical therapist
- Liaises with physicians' offices and hospital personnel
- Maintains a clean and functional area for treatments and exercises
- Assists patients who need help moving from one area to another
- Handles clerical duties such as patient intake, coordinates with referring doctors' offices and documents patients' responses and progress during exercises.
- Possesses the ability to be versatile, flexible, and willing to work with enthusiasm
Shared Duties/Other
- Maintains and respects the confidentiality of patient and employee information in accordance with company policy & procedure, and HIPAA & compliance guidelines
- Attends all regular staff meetings and continuing education sessions as required
- Maintains regular attendance
- Presents professional image in manner, appearance, motivation and work habits
- Performs other duties as assigned
Critical Skills & Attributes / Academic / Technical Qualifications
- HS diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to understand complex workflows and comprehend technical documents and programs
- Detail oriented and able to produce accurate work
- Bilingual Spanish is a plus!
Industry Experience
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience, in a Physical
- Therapy office/hospital environment
- Ability to type 65-75 wpm with accuracy
- Knowledge of HIPPA & OSHA guidelines
- Strong experience with medical practice management systems and electronic medical records
- Strong knowledge of computers and medical terminology is mandatory
Communication Skills
- Excellent verbal, written, critical thinking and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively across all levels and roles in the company
- Ability to work well with Physical & Occupational Therapists, PT Assistants, employees, patients, and others
- A committed and result-driven attitude to work as a high ethical and professional standard.
