Key Responsibilities:
Physical Design Engineer IV is responsible for designing customer solutions within the Services Rack and Cabinet Integration Team, including:
- Systems level design and development of outdoor and indoor data, transport, cloud computing and wireless applications systems, racks, cabinets, electromechanical packaging designs and integrated solutions.
- For conceptual designs, candidate will create high level engineering concepts based on input from Sales, Systems Engineers, Customers, and Product Managers. This includes configuration, environmental packaging, equipment stack-ups, elevations drawings, etc.
- Thorough understanding of inside and outside plant communications and data systems including environmental and power system requirements including for development and deployment of various applications.
- Develop engineering documentation for fully integrated system designs including, purchase specifications, fabrication drawings, testing procedures, wiring diagrams, factory assembly drawings and creation of prototypes, proof of concepts.
- Responsible for analyzing customer requests and supporting the associated technical feasibility studies to include technical evaluation of thermal, structural, and physical reviews.
- Interacts with Sales and Customers to understand and define product requirements, make recommendations, and provide guidance on solution that will satisfy the customer applications and complies with applicable industry standards for proposed solution.
- Generate and present product design review presentations.
- Manage qualifications testing and analyze results to assure validation of system requirements. Tests can include Telcordia, UL, ETSI, etc.
- Support Manufacturing by responding to requests for assistance in resolving assembly and vendor quality issues.
- Assist in coordination and communication of product development issue resolution.
- Coordinates with internal team members and FNC organizations to address and resolve product related issues.
Desired Experience & Knowledge:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, electrical engineering or equivalent engineering degree
- 7 + years of Physical Design Engineering experience or equivalent related business
- Knowledge of MCAD, Pro-E, CREO2, or other CAD tools
- Knowledge of military, IPC, and ASME standards is a plus, Domestic and International communications equipment standards, for example, IEEE, Telcordia, UL, CUL, etc.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to run projects with minimal supervision, multitask, and attention to detail
- Strong and independent work ethic
