As CPU Physical Design Engineer - Undergrad Intern in the E-core CPU group, you will be responsible for:
- Developing, debugging, and supporting tools, flows and methodologies covering backend Physical Design methodologies and flow automation for high performance blocks and full chip level using RTL2GDS standard cell level design techniques
- Performing analysis of either synthesis, place and route, floorplanning or signoff for static timing analysis on timing paths, formal equivalence verification, power consumption, electrical rule checking and circuit reliability to identify key issues
- Working closely with design teams to understand and debug tool issues and constraints
- Working with industry EDA vendors to build and enhance tool capabilities to design a high-speed, low-power synthesizable CPU.
- Creating documentation and help with guidelines/specs
- This position will report to Austin, Texas to work at Intel's Texas Design Center
Qualifications:
This is an entry level position and will be compensated accordingly. You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience would be obtained through a combination of prior education level classes, and current level school classes, projects, research and relevant previous job and/or internship experience.
Minimum Qualifications:
Pursuing Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science or related field
3+ months experience in:
- Coursework completed or enrolled in Computer Architecture, Operating Systems, Algorithms, Advanced Programming Techniques and/or Advanced Data Structures, Machine Learning, Discrete Mathematics
- Linux environments, basic shell scripting, object-oriented programming
- Programming in 1 or more scripting languages such as Python, Perl and/or TCL
Preferred Qualifications:
1+ years of experience in 1 or more of the following:
- Prior Internship or fulltime experience in hardware design
- Backend design EDA tools Synopsys, Cadence and/or Mentor Graphics
- Knowledge in standard-cell liberty format syntax or digital circuit device-level SPICE modelling
- Standard formats from 1 or more of gate-level netlist, standard parasitic formats and/or SDC constraints
- EDA tool TCL API coding
- Advanced programming data structures
- Machine-learning methods to solve complex problems dealing with automation of circuit design to aid in performance and power improvement.
