Position Summary
The Office of Marketing & Communications at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), benefit eligible position of Photographer.
The role of Photographer will be an integral member of the Marketing and Communications team, primarily responsible for capturing high-quality images that reflect the vibrant campus life, academic excellence, and community events at the College of Saint Benedict (CSB) and Saint John's University (SJU). This role requires a creative and technical skill set to photograph a wide range of activities and events both on and off-campus.

Responsibilities
  • Event Photography: Cover campus events, including but not limited to, academic conferences, sports events, cultural programs, and student activities. (35%)
  • Editorial and Marketing Photography: Produce compelling images for use in college marketing materials, websites, social media, and publications. (35%)
  • Archival Management: Organize and maintain a digital photo archive, ensuring easy access and proper cataloging of images. (10%)
  • Portrait Photography: Conduct faculty, staff, and student portrait sessions for official use. (5%)
  • Collaborative Projects: Work closely with the marketing team to develop visual strategies that align with campaign goals. (5%)
  • Off-site Photography: Travel to off-campus locations for special projects and events as needed. (5%)
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner. (5%)

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Photography, Fine Arts, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven experience in professional photography, preferably in an academic or corporate setting.
  • Proficiency in digital photography techniques, lighting, and photo editing software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom).
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a range of photography styles and subjects.
  • Strong written communication skills sufficient to write, prepare, and edit materials such as articles, memos, reports, presentations, etc., using correct spelling, punctuation, grammar, and sentence construction.
  • Customer services skills sufficient to actively listen to and understand customer needs and provide accurate information and appropriate alternatives in a timely, thorough, courteous, respectful, and professional manner in person, over the phone and in writing.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and under multiple deadlines. A wide degree of creativity and self-motivation is expected.
  • A willingness to improve their skills and knowledge. This includes attending training seminars and self-study.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet operational needs, including evenings and weekends.
  • A willingness to maintain a high level of competence. Discreet judgment and confidentiality are expected at this level of responsibility.
  • Understanding of the higher education marketing trends and best practices is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
The Photographer position requires the ability to handle and operate camera equipment, stand for extended periods, move around various campus terrains and settings actively, and lift and transport photography gear and supplies. This position also routinely sits at a workstation for an extended period performing continuous hours of keyboard use.
Travel Requirements:
Regular travel between the campuses of CSB and SJU is required.

HEALTH INSURANCE
Employees are eligible for coverage in the health insurance plan on the first of the month following date of hire. If you elect medical coverage for yourself, you may also choose to cover your eligible dependents. The employee and CSB/SJU share in the cost of this benefit. The Plan also uses a preferred provider network system where discounts are applied when utilizing health care providers in the network. Care received outside of the preferred provider network is covered, but at a higher cost to the employee and the institution.
DENTAL INSURANCE
Employees are eligible for coverage in the dental insurance plan on the first of the month following date of hire. If you elect dental coverage for yourself, you may also choose to cover your eligible dependents. The employee and CSB/SJU share in the cost of this benefit. This plan also uses a preferred provider network where discounts are applied when utilizing providers in the network. AFLAC SUPPLEMENTAL INSURANCE
This voluntary plan offers an additional level of financial protection for you and your family in the event of a serious accident or illness.
LIFE INSURANCE
CSB/SJU provides a Basic Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) policy to employees. This insurance is effective on the first of the month following date of hire. The amount of term insurance provided is based on your annual salary as follows:

$0-$20,000 $50,000
$20,001-$37,500 $75,000
$37,501-$50,000 $90,000
$50,001+ $100,000
Employer provided life insurance in excess of $50,000 is subject to imputed income tax (a tax on the value of the premium).
You may also purchase additional life insurance in increments of one, two, three, or four times your annual salary. There is also a dependent life insurance package available.
LONG-TERM DISABILITY
After one year of benefit eligible employment, CSB/SJU provides disability coverage in the event of an illness or injury that prevents you from working. This plan provides a benefit that equals 60% of your basic monthly earnings to a maximum monthly benefit of $11,000. This benefit may be payable, provided the employee is unable to perform the usual and customary duties of his/her occupation.
VACATION
Paid vacation is accrued based upon FTE and the number of years employed. Vacation is cumulative from year to year to a maximum of 240 hours.

FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNTS
HEALTH SAVINGS ACCOUNT
These plans allow employees to set aside part of their salary on a pre?tax basis to pay for IRS approved expenses.
VISION PLAN
This voluntary plan offers affordable vision coverage for routine eye exams, eyeglass lenses and frames, and contact lenses. Discounts on hearing exams and hearing aids are also included.
TUITION REMISSION
Tuition remission is an educational benefit provided by CSB/SJU. A full time employee and spouse (if applicable) are eligible for tuition free educational benefits the first full semester after six months of employment. The payment of special fees is the responsibility of the employee. Full time employees may enroll for one undergraduate course per term, which includes summer; up to a maximum of 2 courses per year.
There is also a tuition remission program for dependent children of full time employees. This program provides a financial resource to a son or daughter for meeting the tuition costs of undergraduate education. Eligibility begins the fall or spring semester following 2 years (24 months) of continuous full-time employment. CSB/SJU will grant tuition remission the next full semester to the dependent, providing the dependent meets the academic requirements. There are also two consortia programs in which CSB/SJU participate where employees' children may apply for scholarships to attend other colleges/universities.
PARENTAL LEAVE
A paid leave (up to 15 days) will be granted to eligible employees upon the birth or adoption of a child, pro-rated based on FTE. New employees are eligible for this benefit after twelve months of employment.
SICK LEAVE
Full-time employees earn up to 9 days of sick leave per year, pro-rated based on FTE.
Sick leave is cumulative from year to year up to a maximum of 720 hours (90 days). Employees may also use accumulated personal sick leave to care for ill family members.
EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a free counseling resource available to
all employees and immediate family members. EAP counselors can help you identify problems and concerns regarding family, marriage, emotions, alcohol or drugs, financial difficulties, legal issues and job stress. All contacts between you, your family, and the EAP are provided as a benefit from CSB/SJU and are kept strictly confidential.
RETIREMENT
Defined Contribution Plan
CSB/SJU provides a retirement program for all qualified full time employees. The program is administered by Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association (TIAA).
Enrollment in the retirement plan will be effective the first day of the month following the date of hire unless the employee elects to opt-out.

Supplemental Tax Deferred Annuity Plan
In addition to the regular plan, a benefit eligible employee may voluntarily elect to contribute to this plan.
TUITION ASSISTANCE
The tuition assistance plan is an educational grant provided by CSB/SJU to a qualified son or daughter of a full time employee toward meeting the tuition costs at Saint John's Preparatory School. The dependent must meet the eligibility criteria in order to receive this grant.
