Responsibilities
What You'll Do
The Phlebotomist is responsible for the completion of the routine workload in the specimen collection, processing, and office areas according to established laboratory policies and procedures. The exact nature of the work may vary depending on the workload and the assigned tasks.
The successful candidate will be able to:
- Correctly identifies patient specimens according to established laboratory protocols
- Successfully collects venipuncture samples with minimal discomfort to the patient.
- Successfully collects capillary samples with minimal discomfort to the patient.
- Observe professional ethics in maintaining confidential information acquired regarding personal, financial, medical or employment of patients, families, and employees of Hillcrest Pryor.
Qualifications
What You'll Bring
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- ASCP certification in Phlebotomy preferred.
- Formal training in a phlebotomy program preferred
- Previous on the job training accepted
- Must have a passion for excellence
- Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Professionalism displayed through sound judgement, initiative, and flexibility
- Good interpersonal, communication, team-work, and customer service skills
- Strong organizational, problem-solving and follow-through skills
- Ability to multi-task constantly, react to changes quickly/productively, and tolerate interruptions
- Ability to perform work when no directions are given, and give directions to others
- Remain flexible, organized, professional and able to analyze, make sound decisions under stressful situations
- Demonstrate maturity and accountability
