POSITION: Phlebotomist
RESPONSIBILITIES: Reports to the Clinic Administrator. S/he performs duties under the direction of the Provider/ Physician or nurse in examination and treatment of patients. S/he provides clinic services such as TB skin tests and administration of prescribed medication. Draws blood, gives injections, administers and reads skin tests, administers immunizations and vaccinations, obtains laboratory specimens. Follows standard precautions at all times, disposes all sharp instruments in a rigid sharp container, cleans and supplys venipuncture trays. Maintains clean work area, order supplies as needed, completes assigned duties efficiently and in a timely manner, and processes scheduled and outpatient orders. Assist laboratory technician when necessary, follows policy and procedures for the clinical laboratory. S/he will perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS: Ability to perform skillfully and effectively the duties of phlebotomist. Work effectively with individuals and follow oral and written directions. Mature judgment, tact, discretion and confidentiality are mandatory.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must submit to and pass a drug test and a criminal background clearance as a pre-condition for employment. Must be able to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 (with booster), MMR, TDAP, Hepatitis B, and recent TB test. BLS/CPR certification required.
QUALIFICATIONS: Possess a Certification Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) under the National Phlebotomist Association. In addition, Medical Assistant Certification and Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred but not mandatory.
