Position Overview
As a Ph.D. Analytical Chemist, you will play a vital role in supporting process chemistry by providing analytical expertise in the development and optimization of Numat's manufacturing processes. Your advanced analytical skills will be essential in ensuring the quality, purity, and safety of our products, as well as driving process improvements to enhance efficiency and yield. This individual will possess strong data analysis and interpretation skills, with the ability to draw meaningful conclusions from complex data sets along with familiarity with cGMP guidelines and regulatory requirements pertaining to analytical methods and data integrity. Experience in Isothermal adsorption, surface area measurement and porous materials characterization is required. This role reports to our Director of Research and Development.
Responsibilities
- Utilize advanced analytical techniques to characterize and monitor chemical reactions, intermediates, and final Numat products
- Collaborate closely with chemists to develop methodology to characterize efficient and scalable processes and use statistical analysis to identify critical to quality variables
- Design and execute experiments to validate analytical methods, troubleshoot issues, and support process improvements
- Analyze and interpret complex data to provide insights into material performance as a function of chemical composition and material characteristics
- Expertise in analytical techniques to support Numat's manufacturing projects
- Create and implement analytical and validation methods, as well as standard operating procedures for the laboratories that enable high efficiency technical support and the development of new products
- Provide analytical support, using newly established methods, to address manufacturing process changes as needed
- Provide research and analytical support for various R&D projects including specification of new products, evaluation of new inputs, and routine laboratory analyses of various production samples
- Conduct research in methods to support R&D programs, manufacturing process development, quality, and product development
Qualifications
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry or a related field required
- Minimum five years experience with analytical method development required
- Hands-on experience with analytical techniques and methodologies: surface area measurements, surface chemical analysis, gas sorption experiments, mass spectrometry, and material characterization by calorimetry
- Method development and validation experience required
- Experience with statistics packages and statistical process control
- Process optimization experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required
- Self-starter, ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision
- Problem-solver with strong interpersonal and decision-making skills and follow through
- Ability to work effectively with others
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask with attention to detail
- Time management and ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where everyone must play multiple roles
