Pharmacy Tech/Prior Authorization Specialist

Job Description- Pharmacy Technician for NOVUS Health. This position will process refill and Prior Authorizations from multiple providers, ensuring accurate and timely processing of patient prescriptions through our EMR to designated pharmacies. Follow-up and assist provider with pre-authorizations. Work with Pharmacist on processing of prescriptions in-house.

Essential Job Functions:

• Assist multiple providers in processing prescriptions through EMR, ensure the Prescriptions are processed and sent to correct pharmacy. Identify barriers and take corrective action to ensure prescriptions are processed in an effective and timely manner
• Support providers with pre-authorizations
• Works with in-house pharmacist with specialty drugs (including HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) medications) pre-authorization and monitoring.
• Provide phone and in person support for patients with questions regarding medication processing.
• Update pharmacies for clients on a bi-annual basis.
• Assist with front office duties as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Work with providers and clinical support staff to reconcile medication lists to ensure documentation is up-to-date and accurate.
• Reference PDMP site when assisting with controlled substance prescriptions to ensure prescribing patterns are safe and in accordance with state legislation/NOVUS policies

Qualifications:

Certification as a Pharmacy Technician with all credentials needed in Missouri. 2 or more years of work in a pharmacy or clinical setting. Prefer Bachelor’s degree and experience working in a Specialty Pharmacy related to HIV care and treatment.
