Schedule
The Pharmacy Technician will work 40 sessions per week (8 sessions per day). One (1) session will equal one (1) hour. Typically, the contractor will work Monday through Friday (except Federal Holidays), normally between the hours of 6:00 am to 4:00 pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch period. The Pharmacy Technician schedule shall not exceed forty (40) hours per week.
Education and Experience
- Completion of a pharmacy technician training program. Or
- An Actively participating in a pharmacy technician training program with at least six months of course credit established, and an internship satisfactorily completed. Or
- Practical experience of at least one year in a pharmacy technician position. Or
- Practical experience of at least one year in a pharmacy related role within the health care field.
- Shall be certified in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in accordance with the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association
- A resume, photocopies of documents evidencing education and training is required.
Description of Duties
Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, the pharmacy technician will process prescription refills, physically count and label medication, and assist with dispensing and daily delivery to satellite pharmacy locations within the institution grounds.
- All medications will be verified by a pharmacist prior to leaving the central pharmacy processing area.
- Provide patient education.
- Assist with administrative tasks, i.e., record-keeping as assigned.
- Track inventory and maintain supply management.
- Prepare and package expired medications to be sent to contracted reverse distributor or contracted waste management vendor.
- Any duties assigned by the Health Services Administrator or the Chief Pharmacist that fall within the scope of duties for a local community Pharmacy Technician.
