General Summary: The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting central pharmacists and technicians in the delivery of medications and pharmaceutical products under direct supervision of a Pharmacist. Documents and updates documentation on various pharmaceutical products that are loaded in the automated dispensing machines. Communicates with pharmacy staff and nurses about medication when necessary and appropriate.
Minimum Education:
High school diploma or GED is required.
Required Licensure, Certification, On-going Training:
- Current registration with the District of Columbia Board of Pharmacy for DC as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certified, or obtain PTCB certification within 1 year of hire. Licensure is required.
- PTCB for pharmacy students can be waived for those who have an active Pharmacist Intern License.
Shift: PRN/On-Call, Candidate must be able to work at least 4 shifts per 6 week period, and at least one major and one minor holiday.
