Job Summary The Pharmacy Technician 3 is responsible for gathering information from medical records and other sources as required to process refill requests. Makes analysis of what further information needs to be collected to complete patient history. Makes recommendations to pharmacist for refill authorization based on protocols and data gathered. Communicates authorization requests to requesting parties. May assists with processing of prior authorization requests and resolving medication access issues. Maintains database of activities to document workload and impact on patient outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications

- Outpatient pharmacy experience
- Working knowledge of using an electronic medical record (EMR).
- Previous experience communicating with patients and hospital personnel, both orally and in writing.
- Must be organized and able to keep accurate records and pay close attention to details.
- Must have experience and ability to perform chart review in a time-effective manner.
- Must be able to perform pharmacy calculations accurately.
- Must have knowledge of current generic and trade drug names and pharmacy terminology.
- Must be self-motivated and work with minimal supervision, yet to recognize when it is appropriate to seek assistance from others when limits of authority have been reached.
- Must possess problem-solving skills to independently recognize and define a problem and identify the resources available to help solve the problem, create and implement viable solutions, and follow through to ensure the problem is resolved to the satisfaction of all parties.
- Must possess interpersonal skills to establish and maintain a friendly, welcoming environment for clinic's/department's customers.
- Must have working knowledge of Office Suite Systems (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)

- National Board Certification (CPhT)
- Previous Epic experience
- Experience working in an Ambulatory Care Clinic, medication refill program or PBM
- Experience with prior authorization process and procedures
Department Description
The Pharmacy Department provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient pharmaceutical services (prescriptions, unit dose, IV admixtures, clinical infusion pumps and teaching) throughout the Medical Center complex 24 hours per day. The Department is comprised of three inpatient and six outpatient pharmacies, a sterile production lab and the full complement of pharmacy purchasing, stores and distribution.
