Job description

Eaton's Global Energy Infrastructures Solutions (GEIS) division is currently seeking a EHS Manager. This role is based at our Washington, PA manufacturing site and offers relocation assistance.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $91500.03 - $134200.04 a year.

What you'll do:
Position Overview:
The Environmental Health & Safety Manager is to provide Environmental, Health, Safety, Security and Sustainability leadership for the Meadowlands facility. This requires a proactive approach to development and maintenance of processes to ensure compliance with applicable Federal, State and Local laws as well as Eaton's EHS Management System (MESH), including ISO 14001 requirements. This position will be responsible for identifying and leading EHS activities, assuring accurate and complete EHS reporting of metrics, managing interfaces with governmental authorities and external parties, and providing technical and tactical support to plant leadership to ensure the plant is operated in a safe, healthy, secure, and environmentally sustainable manner.
In this function you will:

  • Lead the creation of the site EHS targets and objectives (MESH Plan) in support of corporate, regional and business group EHS strategic initiatives designed to drive EHS culture, compliance, and results.
  • Develop and conduct training and learning opportunities aimed at growing employee understanding, ability and competency as it relates to EHS endeavors and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Develop behavior-based safety programs and works collaboratively with all employees to create and promote a zero incident EHS culture throughout site.
  • Ensure that the federal, state, and local EHS regulations are met including air, land, and water to provide a safe working environment for employees, and a clean and healthful environment for the community.
  • Develop and maintain plant emergency response plans and ensures drills are performed to document plan effectiveness.
  • Investigates incidents/accidents to determine root causes and prepares and implements corrective action plans.
  • Prepare and submit required Federal, State, and local governmental reports regarding hazardous waste disposal, air emissions and plant waste discharge.
  • Evaluate proposed projects and proposed new chemicals and ensures plans are in-place and implemented to address EHS compliance issues e.g. Ensuring MESH MOC Process is implemented
  • Coordinates and assists with corporate initiatives, participating on teams to drive best practices across Eaton Corp.
  • Develop and maintain all required written safety plans, e.g., Hearing Conservation, PPE
  • Ensures all required plant safety inspections are performed and documented, e.g., fire extinguishers, fire risers, emergency response equipment, safety showers, eye wash stations, emergency lights, ladders, housekeeping and that corrective actions are completed for identified deficiencies.
  • Use established EHS data processes such as MESH Prism to manage data such as injuries and illnesses, environmental metrics, risk assessments, EHS action items and other pertinent information including maintenance of the OSHA log.
  • Create training matrices to ensure that all training is defined and tracked to completion. You will work with site leadership team and facilities to ensure that all key EHS operational controls are in place, on a PM program, and that EHS action items are resolved on a timely basis.
  • Comply with Eaton's ethics policy and keeps the management team informed of issues associated with regulatory compliance.

Qualifications:
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required
  • Minimum three (3) years of EHS experience in a manufacturing/distribution environment
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene or Environmental Science from an accredited institution
  • 5 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing/distribution environment.
  • Professional certification: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)

Skills:
Position Criteria:
  • Knowledge of state and federal occupational environmental, health and safety and health laws and regulations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; strong leadership, coaching and influence management skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead cross-functional teams
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and formal problem-solving methods used to identify root cause and drive corrective actions
  • Demonstrated experience in deployment of safety programs
  • Knowledge of workers compensation administration
  • Data-driven, disciplined, objective, and detail-oriented.
  • Acts as a business partner; sees the big picture and works through ambiguity and change.
  • Ability to be energetic, a critical thinker, skilled in driving process improvement.
  • Ability to influence and motivate people.
