The Pharmacy Manager will assist with both administrative and clinical operations of the Pharmacy. Accountable for daily operations, planning, coordinating and managing activities for the ambulatory outpatient pharmacy. Assisting with workload as necessary.
Duties:
- Coordinate and supervise pharmaceutical activities to assure smooth work flow and to provide medication to patients efficiently, promptly and correctly
- Make recommendations regarding pharmacy services and act to implement approved programs
- Assist in maintaining appropriate records to meet all regulatory standards
- Maintain proper storage and inventory of drugs. Proper rotation of all drugs. Perform detailed inspection of medication storage areas
- Compare current medication therapy with new medications orders to prevent inappropriate drug use (drug allergies, drug interactions, duplicative drug therapy, sub-therapeutic or toxic doses)
- Assist in the orientation and training of other pharmacy personnel in peer or subordinate relationships. Participate in the training of pharmacy interns and residents
- Participate in performance improvement and other appropriate departmental committees. Identify problems, finds implements solutions
- Perform all related management and administrative functions as required by Clinical manager . Assist with organization and coordination of pharmacy services ensuring compliance with all policies, procedures and regulatory requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree required, PharmD or MS degree and/or completion of Pharmacy Residency Program (may be used as a substitute for some experience) PHD School of Pharmacy preferred
- Current license and registration to practice in New York State
- Minimum 3 years’ work experience required
- Basic principles of pharmacology, ability to use clinical information system to enter and verify medications orders and patient information, principles for preparing medication and aseptic technique required
- Knowledge of controlled substances dispensing, maintaining inventory and documentation utilizing dispensing and inventory systems, filling ambulatory prescriptions,utilizing pharmacy computer system required
The hours for this position are 8:00 am – 1:00 pm and will work 3 days per bi-weekly pay period primarily located at the Waters Place location. The selected candidate must be able to work varying shifts and at all Wellness center locations at the need of the department.
This is a 100% grant funded position.
