Baptist Health is looking for a Pharmacy Care Coordinator to join our Oncology team at Baptist Health Lexington.
- Complete benefit investigations to verify patient eligibility for prescribed specialty medications.
- Assess requirements for authorization of medications and maintain current knowledge of payer formularies and reimbursement.
- Support third party prior authorization process and obtain appropriate overrides.
- Maintain accurate insurance information and monitor for prior authorization renewal needs to avoid gaps in medication therapy.
- Identify financial assistance options to maximize copay savings.
- Facilitate enrollment of patients in patient assistance programs.
- Serve as a liaison with physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, pharmacists, nurses, and social workers to provide administrative support, communicate changes in medication and related coverage.
- Utilize Electronic Health Record to maintain communication between departments and ensure accurate documentation in patient electronic charts.
- Support pharmacist with in-clinic or telephonic patient activities.
- Perform phone functions in a professional and timely manner. i.e.: answering phones, returning calls, and checking voice mail, in a timely manner.
- Complete patient refill coordination outreach.
- Coordinate patient scheduling for initial and follow up appointments.
- Triage patient clinical questions and third-party insurance denials to the pharmacist for intervention as appropriate.
- Provide input on the clinic marketing strategy with the goal of increasing patient recruitment.
- Maintains record of activities to support data collection, analysis, and ongoing reporting to leadership related to patient metrics and financial performance.
- Maintains patient confidentiality and a professional demeanor at all times with patients, providers and staff.
- Acts as a contact person for all non-clinical patient/customer questions.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current or eligible for Kentucky and/or Indiana pharmacy technician registration.
- Kentucky and/or Indiana pharmacy technician registration required within 30 days of hire.
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred.
- 2 years pharmacy technician experience preferred.
- Prior experience with third party billing, financial counseling, or medical terminology and coding preferred.
- Prior experience with Epic EMR preferred.
- Intermediate knowledge of computer systems and software, including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word preferred.
