Pharmacist - PRN
Overview:
We seek a dedicated and experienced Pharmacist to join our team on a PRN basis. The Pharmacist will be crucial in ensuring the safe and effective use of medications within our clinical setting. This position requires strong clinical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.
DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Assist PIC in ordering, dispensing, and accounting for prescription drugs.
- Prepares medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders and detecting therapeutic incompatibilities.
- Dispenses medications per prescription, packaging, and labeling of pharmaceuticals.
- Controls medications by monitoring drug therapies, advising interventions, and accountability.
- Completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and supervising technicians' workflow, verifying their preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals, verifying order entries, overseeing prescription data entry and processing validation of each script, and inspections.
- Provides pharmacological information by answering questions and requests of health care professionals and counseling patients on drug therapies.
- Training of pharmacy staff, students, interns, externs, residents, and other health care professionals with pharmaceutical products or information.
- Complies with all state, local, and federal regulations FDA/DEA in addition to ALL Texas State Board of Pharmacy Laws & Regulations; maintains records for controlled substances; removes outdated and damaged drugs from the pharmacy inventory; supervises the work results of support personnel; maintaining current registration; studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; advising management on needed actions and keeping up to date with existing and updated laws and legislation.
- Protects patients and technicians by adhering to infection-control protocols.
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with facility policy, procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Attends educational workshops; reviews professional publications; establishes personal networks; participates in professional societies. Must stay current on yearly C.E.'s.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- The pharmacist is to exercise professional judgment, communicating all pharmaceutical needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required

REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
- B.S. in Pharmacy or Pharm D degree
- Current Pharmacist license to practice in the State of Texas and good standing with TSBP
