POSITION SUMMARY:
The Pharmacist is responsible for providing pharmaceutical services to the patients of Community Medical Centers, Inc. The Pharmacist reports to the Pharmacist-In-Charge.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Under the direction of the Pharmacist-In-Charge will provide pharmaceutical services to Community Medical Centers, Inc. patients
- Order, inventory, and dispense pharmaceutical items for Community Medical Center, Inc. patients
- Assist in the implementation of a quality assurance program
- Maintain patient profile records, billing data, and other records as required
- Provide continuing education to clinic staff and provide patient education as required
- Maintain effective communication with CMC administration to assure coordination of pharmacy services with other program components
- Train and monitor department staff compliance with OSHA and safety policies
- Assist in the recruitment, hiring, retention and evaluation of job performance of department staff in compliance with personnel policies and procedures
- Performs other duties as assigned or required
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Licensed as a Pharmacist by the State Board of Pharmacy in California
- Possession of a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree or Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from an accredited school of pharmacy
- Preference will be given to individuals with the ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish; written and verbal
- Valid California driver’s license, proof of auto insurance, and personal transportation
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Pharmacology principles, practices, and regulations
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical agents, dangerous drugs, and devices. Ability to recognize and advise clinicians of potential problems
- Knowledge of the principles, practices of development and training to conduct in-service programs
- Skill in preparing records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence
- Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance
- Skill in exercising initiative and judgment
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with medical staff and clinic management staff
- Ability to interpret, adapt and apply written guidelines
- Knowledge of pharmaceuticals and indigent care (PIC) programs
- Ability to communicate clearly
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires eye-hand coordination, manual dexterity and the ability to read and note appropriate measurements. Ability to work irregular hours.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
