Form of work- Position Summary
- Under the general direction of Inpatient Pharmacy Leadership, the Oncology Pharmacist reviews drug therapy; formulates recommendations based on current literature and prevailing opinion; participates in the education of physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and allied health professionals; serves as a resource for drug information; participates in drug research trials based on specialty and current relationships with principle investigators; and serves as a liaison between Cancer Care and Pharmacy operations. Active participant on the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee for maters pertaining to Oncology services.
- Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Education: Graduate of an ACCP accredited school/college of pharmacy is required.
- License/Certifications: License/Certifications: Eligible or currently licensed in the State of Maine. BLS Certification required. BCOP (Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist) completion upon hire is preferred and mandatory within 12 months of hire.
- Experience: Work experience as a patient care pharmacist involved in patient monitoring and drug therapy review is required. Completion of PGY1 pharmacy residency or Completion of BCOP required.
- Completion of a PGY2 pharmacy residency in specific specialty strongly preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Experience in the monitoring and consultation on drug therapy in patients of all age groups.
- Experience in the design, enrollment, monitoring, documentation, and analysis of patients in research drug protocols is preferred.
- Excellent presentation skills on topics of clinical relevance.
