Job description

The Pharmacy Compliance Supervisor is responsible for maintenance and enhancement of compliance activities within the pharmacy department. This position requires collaboration with Finance, Billing, Compliance, Accreditation, Performance Improvement, Environmental and Patient Care Services.

Job Responsibilities include:

  • - Creates and reviews policies and procedures for compounded sterile products in accordance with USP <797> and USP <800>.
  • - Ensures compliance with USP <795>, USP <797>, USP <800> and other applicable laws, regulations, and standards, e.g., competencies, environmental testing, etc.
  • - Responsible for development of and annual review of Master Formulation Records.
  • - Maintaining templates/monitoring compliance with the use of IV workflow applications.
  • - Supervises Pharmacy Business Analyst.
  • - Assure compliance with 340B program requirements of qualified patients, drugs, providers, vendors, payers, and locations.
  • - Responsible for maintaining 340B vendor accounts, bill-splitting software, documentation of policies and procedures and 340B system integrity.
  • - Maintains current knowledge of trends, pending/new legislation, regulations and laws.
  • - Advises System Pharmacy Director regarding other areas of compliance such as State, Federal, TJC and CMS pharmacy standards.
  • - In conjunction with applicable pharmacy leadership, initiates plans of correction for non-compliant staff.
  • - Is flexible in assuming other appropriate responsibilities not noted above.

Requirements:

Education - Graduate of an ACPE-accredited school of pharmacy with either a BS pharmacy or PharmD required. PGY1/PGY2 residency preferred.

Experience - 5 years health system experienced required, with experience in 340B, IV room management preferred.

Licensure - Currently licensed in the State of New York.

Physical Requirements - Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., use of computer keyboard); may require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs.), including boxes, equipment, unit-dose cassettes, and IV solutions and stooping and kneeling (e.g., to pick up items from the floor, to remove and replace items on lower shelves, and to file documents in lower file drawers); sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time (4-8 hours) is often necessary; must be able physically to operate the equipment used for the job.
