Job Summary:
Accurately reviews and interprets medication orders; prepares accurate and complete patient profiles; reviews profiles for correct drug, dosage and route of administration; ensures that no drug duplication or drug-drug interaction exits; ensures that patient is not allergic to any medication prescribed. Efficiently performs other professional pharmacy duties including the safe procurement, preparation, labeling, distribution and control of all drugs. Notifies appropriate medical/nursing staff whenever appropriate drug therapy is questionable. Actively supports and participates in pharmacy activities recommended by the AOA or other regulatory agencies.
Education, Training and Licenses Required:
- B.S. in Pharmacy required, Pharm.D. preferred;
- Current CA Registered Pharmacist license required.
Experience Required:
- Two years’ experience as a Hospital Pharmacist preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required:
Knowledge of Federal and State laws, regulations, and standards regarding the provision of pharmaceutical services. Must be computer-literate. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in English. Knowledge of dosage requirements for pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
Equipment Knowledge Required:
Ability to use fax, telephone, copy machine, computer, calculator, balance and/or scale, IV hood, and automated dispensing machine. Ability to learn and operate pharmacy computer systems and other equipment.
