Veterinary Services of Aiken is looking for a Pet Care Attendant/caregiver to join our team. The Pet Care Attendant/caregiver role is an entry-level position in the practice, and the job is an excellent way to learn how a veterinary hospital operates from the ground up. Our Pet Care Attendants/caregivers are responsible for:
- Feeding, walking, and cleaning up after dogs and cats in our boarding kennel
- Keeping track of pets’ belongings and making sure the kennel is neat and organized
- Administering medications to boarders as directed by a veterinarian
- Monitoring pets for any sign of illness or behavioral issues and bringing any concerns to the attention of a veterinary technician or veterinarian
- Ensuring our building is clean and odor-free at all times. This includes doing laundry, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning up pet accidents, keeping the restrooms clean and sanitary, and completing deep cleaning projects as needed
- Other duties as delegated by the hospital team
Our ideal candidate is mature, responsible, trustworthy, and able to work with minimal supervision and find ways to stay busy. You must have reliable transportation and be available to work from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM on a flexible schedule that meets the hospital’s needs, including Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Animal handling experience is a plus, but we are willing to train someone who understands that they need to learn safe, proper techniques that are in keeping with the hospital’s Fear-free approach.
