Summary
This role is a project-based contract (1099) position to support onboarding initiatives. The average project frequency over the last two years has been 4 projects annually with an average project duration of 60 to 120 days.
Personnel Security Specialist(s) will process and review Personnel Security clearances and maintain all security documentation, files, and clearance and suitability rosters in accordance with government requirements. Must have an understanding and experience with NBIS/eQip/ EAPP, security clearances administration. You will work under the guidance and direction of the Director of Personnel Security.
Personnel Security Specialist(s) must be able to work 20-40 hours per week during onboarding initiatives.

- Reviews Public Trust (Moderate, or High Risk) Security investigation (Onboarding and periodic reinvestigation) requests for completeness and accuracy.
- Assist applicants with corrective action concerning completion / submission of Personnel Security documents.
- Maintain, update and track Personnel Security documents, such as personnel documents, investigation outcomes, other PII.
- Mail documents and perform basic customer service administrative functions when applicable.
- Required to attend and complete monthly training.

Physical/Mental Demands
Physical Demands - While performing the duties of this role, an employee is frequently required to sit, talk or hear, in person and by telephone; use hands to operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk and to lift and carry reports and records weighing up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Required Education and Experience
- Must have an Active Public Trust or higher security clearance– within last five years. (United States Citizenship requirement)
- Two (2) years of experience processing and reviewing NBIS/eQip/ EAPP applications and providing customer service in a government Personnel Security office environment.
- Working knowledge of NBIS, eQIP/ EAPP, JPAS and SWIFT systems.
- Experience with protection requirements for handling and safeguarding Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
- Ability to manage time, make sound decisions, take independent action, analyze problems, and provide focused solutions.
- Must have a professional demeanor, people skills, ability to communicate effectively, and be able to perform in a multi-tasked, dynamic environment.
- Superior organizational skills.
- Monitor central mailboxes within Outlook, responding to inquiries and status requests.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite applications. (Outlook, Excel, SharePoint)
Security Clearance Requirements
- Must be able to pass Federal background screening and/or state level criminal background screening.
