Job description

Provides technical guidance on a wide range of legislative, regulatory, and assurance matters. Reviews and comments on proposed legislation and regulations and develops policy position documents for leadership. Responds to inquiries by government entities. Monitors and manages the verification of certifications and permits.


Supports clients/customers and assists with functional projects under regular supervision. Has a general knowledge of the work group.

Requires general understanding of applicable laws and regulations related to permitting and compliance requirements/procedures associated with upstream oil and gas operations through the life of a well, work related experience in Texas or New Mexico, including Federal Lands (BLM), strong oral and written communication skills with the ability communicate regulatory issues clearly cross functionally within the BU. Requires strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision.

Roles and Responsibilities: ?


+ Analyzes complex regulatory applicability scenarios ?


+ Conducts regulatory applicability determinations ?


+ Prepares permit applications, registrations, notices, and various compliance reports ?


+ Has a general understanding of applicable laws and regulations related to permitting and compliance procedures through the life of the well. Familiar with a variety of regulations, understands operations, land ownership, and drilling plats ?


+ Able to determine correct filings needed on a project schedule as to not delay development and operations plans ?


+ Track and communicate with agencies on filings and non-compliance related issues ?


+ Assist and mentor associates with less experience while actively cultivating an environment that challenges, encourages and foster professional development and learning ?


+ Assures SOPs for regulatory submissions are current and compliant with regulations ?


+ Provides support for internal and external regulatory agencies ?


+ Verifies that company activities comply with applicable requirements through effective safeguards ?


+ Works with the accountable stakeholder to address non-compliance and violations ?


+ Sorts notices and ensures delivery to respective stakeholders ?


+ Manages post drill filings and applications ?


+ Monitor operational activity (including environmental) to ensure compliance with agency regulations ?


+ Looks for improvement opportunities and ways to decrease human hours


+ Helps the team meet performance reporting (FI’s)?


Required Qualifications


+ New Mexico O & G regulatory experience


+ New Mexico AFMSS II experience


Preferred Qualifications


+ Texas permitting and completions


+ Relationships within Carlsbad CFO


Relocation Options:
