Job Description Summary
The Burn CenterPerformance Improvement (PI) Coordinator reports to the Burn Program Manager. The PI Coordinator is responsible for the Burn Performance Improvement Program which encompasses all areas and disciplines of the hospital and clinics that participate in care of the burn patient. The PI Coordinator provides coordination and facilitation of Performance Improvement with data collection, analysis, trending and benchmarking of data and outcomes. The PI Coordinator will ensure timely recognition, review, actions, and loop closure of burn Performance Improvement initiatives and cases. The coordinator will collaborate closely with Burn Program Leadership to assure compliance with burn standards and the American Burn Association's Burn Quality Care Platform (BQCP) in data analysis.

Job Responsibilities
Coordinate Burn CenterPerformance Improvement and Patient Safety (PIPS) program. Coordinate the development & implementation of Performance Improvement processes for all those involved in the care of the burn patient as required for American Burn Association Verification.
Success Criteria:
• Participate in the continuum of burn care with the planning and implementation of Burn Center guidelines, monitor the care of the burn patient and act as a resource to improve clinical practice for the burn injured patient.
• Facilitates and assists in implementing ongoing interdisciplinary quality improvement projects to create a culture of safety and promote value-based programs.
• Content expert to identify deficiencies and opportunities for the improvement, resolve the problem and provide loop-closure.
• Analyze current medical information for any variances in care by extracting data from the EHR, EMS patient care records, outside hospital transfer record, daily rounds, and any other sources of documentation that may be available to capture accurate patient information.
• Provide clinical expertise and collaboration with physicians, APP's, nurses, ancillary services, and EMS to identify patient or system issues.
• Maintain burn database with accurate description of issues, actions, preventability, and ensure loop closure for all identified issues.
• Provide monthly reports on PI projects
• Coordinate and participate in both internal and external education
Success Criteria:
• Provide education on the Performance Improvement process identified through the PIPS process
• Encourage participation from all disciplines to design process that result in improved care for the burn patient
• Share successes on a regional and national level
Additional Job Description
Requirements
• RN Licensure in State of South Carolina
• Minimum of 2 years clinical RN experience in emergency or critical care nursing, burn care experience preferred
• ABLS certifications preferred, with requirement to achieve in first 18 months
• Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• Demonstrate problem-solving skills, organizational skills, and computer skill
