Per Diem Phlebotomist

Under general supervision, perform phlebotomy duties and assist the clinical laboratory scientist and the laboratory manager in processing incoming specimens from patients. Perform data entry, front office duties and process lab orders.

Required/Preferred
1. Must have a phlebotomy license in accordance with the State of California Business & Professional Code.

2. Skill in phlebotomy in a hospital or clinic setting.

3. Experience in hard to stick patients with the least difficulty.

4. Demonstrated ability to handle confidential material with discretion and sensitivity.

5. Skill in coordinating Specimen Processing work flow and computer data entry/retrieval.
Required
6. Ability to respond to necessary changes in schedule with cooperation.

7. Ability to communicate effectively to train employees and coordinate work flow.
Required
8. Skill in reading English words, technical abbreviations of test names and results.

9. Skill in using centrifuge.
Required
10. Skill in accurately copying patient data with close attention to details both manual and automated.

11. Skill in performing repetitive tasks in an accurate, efficient manner.
Required
12 Working knowledge of Clinical Laboratory test names and their abbreviated forms and demonstrated working knowledge of medical terminology to include body functions and systems.

13. Working knowledge of Infection Control procedures.

14. Ability to understand complex technical information; apply, retain, and add to that information which is subject to frequent changes.
